Wildlife Week Celebrations

dhillongagan2008

Officials of the Himachal Pradesh forest department held an event at the water catchment sanctuary in Dhalli on Friday (October 2) to mark the first day of the 69th wildlife week. 26 students from Himachal Pradesh University and various schools of Shimla participated in the event while following social distancing and other covid-related guidelines.

A cycle rally and bird-watching treks were held during the programme. Santosh Thakur and Anil Thakur led the bird watching teams and helped students spot and identify around 30 different species of birds, including kalij pheasants, oriental turtle dove and white-throated laughingthrush.

Dr Savita and Archana Sharma urged the students to stay connected with nature and wildlife, and help sustain all life on planet Earth.
